Triumph: The Show Must Go On
A local radio station put out a plea for a band to perform in place of Buddy Holly and the two other headliners. Bobby Velline (Bobby Vee) was planning on attending the performance, but decided his local band, "The Shadows," could help fill the spots. This was the gig that kicked off Bobby Vee's music career. Bobby Vee attributes much of his success to Buddy Holly, whose style was similar to the Shadows. Bobby Vee played at many memorial concerts and even released an album attributed to Buddy Holly titled I Remember Buddy Holly. Bobby Vee died on October 26th, 2016 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
